Worthy State Deputy and Brother,
I have been diagnosed with Colon Cancer and have been scheduled for surgery the 21th of January 2009 at Mercy Hospital
4001 J Street, Sacramento, Ca.. The good news is that it is centralized as a blockage in the smallest colon area. I should be in the hospital for four days and released the 24th or 25th of Jan. If no more cancer than I will not require chemo. I have my Warden James Donaker to fill in my place until I'm able to return to my post.

Please pray for me.. I thank God for my wife Joanne and my children who are standing by me..

Thanks and God Bless

Subject: SK Hervey Charron's death and Funeral 2/

Dear Brothers & Sir Knights,

Sorry for the confusion.     The Funeral is next Friday 2/27/09

As some of you may know, long time member and Brother SK Hervey Charron passed away last Friday 2/20/2009.  The reason I waited so long is because the funeral arrangements were not finalized until now.  The funeral Mass will be at 10;30 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Placerville.  There will be a Rosary prior to the Mass at 10 AM.  Members of the Color Corps are requested to arrive at 9AM.

I would appreciate help in notifying members of the Assembly who do not have email (ie: Cal Crawford) so they know about this.

Hervey was an active 4th Degree Member and Color Corps Member.  I know he and his family would appreciate a large turnout of Brother Knights.

Dorothy Hileman, the Spouse of; PGK, PFN, FDD, PCP, Don Hileman, Redding Council 3978, passed away this afternoon while in residence at Canyonwood Rest Home in Redding.

Of the many years they had together, Dorothy and Don shared life with the railroad, performing work for the Knights of Columbus, going camping, and traveling to Chapter Meetings and Conventions. Since I moved to Redding in 2001, I knew them only a short while.

There will be notices coming out shortly, so please keep her in your mind and heart, and ask God to accept Dorothy into His Heavenly Home with a great party! Update from 1/15/2008

Brothers:

Jack has recovered well from the bypass surgery, but continued to have
V-Tach (Ventricular Tachycardia) so a pace-maker/defibrillator was implanted
yesterday (Monday).  He will hopefully be moved out of Cardiac intensive
care today.  Will let you know as things progress.

Elaine Willoughby
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack was transferred to Sutter Memorial Hospital on Wednesday late
afternoon.  Bypass surgery was scheduled for noon Friday.  His surgeon was
Mike Ingram, one of Sutter's heart transplant team.  We were all down there
Thursday morning to "see him off".  He was in great spirits, had no (or very
little) anxiety about the surgery, and was joking with the nurses et al.
David, Susan, Hanna & Noah (who all came over from Willits), and Debbie and
I were with him until they rolled him into the OR.  We anticipated a 4 to 7
hour wait.  He was in recovery after 2-1/2 hours and a triple bypass.  It
pays to have the very best!!!!
I stayed with him until 10:00 p.m. when he finally came out of the
anesthesia.  Before that, he had another bout of ventricular tachycardia and
they had to shock him.  They will be implanting a defibulator before he
comes home.  According to the nurse, the scar tissue from his first heart
attack (1975) plus this recent second one, plus the coronary arterial
disease, has created a  fertile environment for ongoing ventricular
tachycardia.  The bypasses have nothing to do with fixing the tachycardia.
I am learning just enough to probably be VERY dangerous!
With all of the kids congregating at home, I am being very well looked
after.  Jack will probably come home Monday or Tuesday.  I will continue to
update you.
Thank you for all of your calls and emails.  Don't worry, I will take
advantage of all of your offers of help.  He greatest danger when he's been
home for a while will probably be from his wife!
Elaine
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Hello
I have already told some of you this. Last week my biopsy results came back positive. I now know I have prostate cancer. I met with my doctor, who recommends I have my prostate removed to have a good chance of curing this. I plan to have the surgery in early January. If all goes well, I will be at Renown in Reno for 3 days post-surgery. Recovery should be less than 6 weeks (to when I can start working out at the gym again).
I am not worrying too much about this. I feel it is a "Win-Win" proposition. If I am cured, I get to live and see my family grow. If it is God's will to join Him sooner, I also win.
Please pray that God's will is done.
Thanks.
9/7/2008 State Deputy Robert Villalobos
Worthy Brother Knights,
Our State Deputy has been recuperating at home since his neck surgery on 13Aug.  He has not been recovering as quickly as he had hoped and the medications he is taking still needed more time to do their job.  Our State Deputy regrets having had to miss the installations and events that had been planned during his post surgery recovery, and he hopes to be well enough soon to resume his duties and to be part of the mid-September activities.
Our State Deputy Robert Villalobos and his wife Carol need our prayers during this time of recovery.  Please remember them in your prayers, and they can be reached via email at state.deputy@kofc-california.org.
8/20/2007 Sam Mussro Sr - Sam has been a very active member in St John's parish and very instrumental in developing both the St Vincent DePaul organization at the parish and the Junior St Vincent DePaul program at the school. At the age of 93 he has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  On Friday he completed his 5th in a series of radiation treatments in an effort to reduce the discomfort of many large tumors on his head and spine. Based on the diagnosis, it was estimated that he probably has between 2-3 months remaining.  And even with all this going on in his life, he still managed to occupy his traditional 4th row seat at the 8:00 am Mass this morning.  If it wasn't for his total involvement with the SVdeP program in Carmichael and previously in the Los Angeles area he would have made one heck of a Knight. Most of the SJE members know Sam (and his many, many words each time you met with him....all amazing works he has accomplished for the church in his life). A great Catholic and he will be a big time loss particularly the youth program at the parish.
